NIZHNY NOVGOROD, March 22 (RIA Novosti) - Five people died after a minivan collided head-on with a truck on Friday evening in the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk, near Nizhny Novgorod, local traffic police said on Saturday.
"The driver of the Gazel minivan, attempting to overtake a vehicle, drove into the incoming lane collided head-on with a Kamaz truck laden with bricks. There were six people in the Gazel, of whom five died," a traffic police officer told RIA Novosti.
The sole survivor from the minivan was on the front seat at the time of the crash, and was thrown through the windscreen.
"He was only lightly injured, and after receiving medical treatment in hospital, was sent home," the officer said.
