"According to forensic medical experts, the cause of death was numerous stab wounds to the chest and neck," a police source told RIA Novosti on Saturday.
Police are searching for two young men who were reportedly seen attacking the woman when she was walking out of a shop on Friday evening on Festivalnaya Street.
A sniffer dog lost the trace of the attackers, who will face up to 20 years in prison if brought to justice.
An investigation is underway.
Routine attacks by skinheads and youth gangs on foreigners and people with non-Slavic features have been reported across Russia in recent years. But authorities have been generally reluctant to treat the attacks as race-hate crimes, portraying them instead as acts of hooliganism.
