MOSCOW, March 24 (RIA Novosti) - Police detained a Russian teenager after he tried to climb to the top of a nine-storey apartment block in Kemerovo, West Siberia, during a late-night prank, local emergencies officials said on Monday.
The would-be-spiderman, 14, had bet his friends that he could climb to the top of the building using no special climbing equipment. He managed to reach the eighth floor Sunday night before being caught.
It took rescuers just a few minutes to bring the teenager to the ground using safety equipment.
"The extreme fan had to learn basic climbing skills by an express method," the spokesman said, adding the teenager was unharmed in the operation.
The 'Spiderman' gave no explanation for climbing the building.
Earlier this month a woman from the Kemerovo Region fell eight floors from an apartment during a weekend party and survived. The women, who had been drinking, sustained bruising and declined hospital treatment.
