MOSCOW, March 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government approved on Friday an import duty on uncut diamonds at 10% of their customs value.
The previous import duty on diamonds, imposed last June, also stood at 10% of their customs value.
The resolution was signed by Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov and will come into effect a month after its official publication date.
Russia's major diamond producer Alrosa, which accounts for 97% of Russian and 25% of global diamond output, sold diamonds worth $146.7 billion in 2007.
