MOSCOW, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Nikolay Davydenko defeated Andy Roddick of the United States 7-6 (5), 6-2 at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami to set up a final against Spain's Rafael Nadal.
The fourth-seeded Russian overcame the world number six in less than 90 minutes on Friday, a day after Roddick beat world number one Roger Federer in the quarter final.
"I've lost already five times against Roddick. This is the first time to beat him. For me it's important in my career," Davydenko told reporters.
Davydenko, ranked fourth in the world, has yet to beat world number two Nadal, who he has played only twice.
Also on Friday, second-seeded Nadal beat Tomas Berdych 7-6 (6), 6-2.
