DAMASCUS, April 14 (RIA Novosti) - A patient in Tunisia has spent more than 44 years in hospital, and pledged to leave the building only when he dies, a Tunisian daily reported on Monday.
The Al Shuruk al Yawmi paper said the 64-year-old patient was first admitted to the Charles Nicolle hospital at the age of 20 with skin and respiratory problems.
The man, known only as Takher, allegedly liked his stay so much he kept being admitted for further treatment and eventually became a permanent feature.
The 'grateful' patient said the hospital was now his sweet home, and the staff had become like family members.
The hospital was constructed in 1946 and named after a French Nobel Prize winner in medicine.
