MADRID, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - Spanish police have detained 33 people and seized more than 14 tons of hashish in recent operations in the country's southwest, the official website of the National Police Corps said on Sunday.
Police said the Bay of Cadiz area has been used by smugglers as a major entry point for maritime hashish runs to Spain. Light aircraft have also been used by drug smuggling gangs.
The series of operations conducted in April by GRECO, a special group to combat organized crime, also resulted in the seizure of a heavy truck, three light cars and eight boats. All of these were used to transport drugs, the majority of which arrive in Spain from Morocco.
