ROME, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - A man in the town of Giarre in Sicily, Italy, took his work as a street cleaner a little too seriously and started bringing his work home, turning his apartment into a garbage dump, the ANSA news agency reported Tuesday.
After his neighbors complained to sanitary services, inspectors paid a visit and discovered the apartment stuffed with trash. The street cleaner, his wife and son were sleeping in deckchairs as their beds were buried under piles of trash.
The city's environmental agency removed the garbage, but the apartment still needs fumigating and cleaning.
The family has moved into one of the town's hotels until the apartment has been properly cleaned.
