MOSCOW, May 16 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian national ice hockey team is set to take on Finland in the semifinal of the 2008 IIHF World Championships in Canada on Friday in a repeat of last year's match in Moscow.

This year's semifinal stage in Quebec is identical to the 2007 Moscow line up, with Canada and Sweden also facing a repeat match.

Last year, the Russian team was on a winning streak, not losing a single game before it reached the semifinal, where it disappointedly lost 3-2 to Finland in overtime. Russia subsequently took bronze.

Vyacheslav Bykov, the head coach of the Russian side, said after his team's stunning 6-0 quarterfinal victory over Switzerland on Wednesday that his players would not be looking for revenge against the Finns.

He said Finland, who beat the United States 3-2 on Wednesday in the quarterfinals, was a very strong opponent that must be respected.

Although the Russian team is currently ranked 5th, two places below Finland, in the International Ice Hockey Federation rankings, Russian hockey fans have great hopes for their national team, which has not won the championship for 14 years.

The game will start at 1:00 p.m. EST (17:00 GMT) and will be followed by Canada against Sweden at 5:00 p.m. EST (21:00 GMT).
