BELGRADE, May 22 (RIA Novosti) - Serbia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday it had sent a note of protest to the Czech government over its recognition of Kosovo and is recalling its ambassador for consultations.
The Czech Republic on Wednesday officially recognized Kosovo, which unilaterally proclaimed its independence from Serbia in mid-February. Kosovo, with a 90% ethnic-Albanian majority, has been formally recognized as a sovereign state by 41 countries, including the U.S. and most EU members.
Serbia has taken measures to recall its ambassadors from all the countries supporting the independence of the southern Serbian province.
Serbia's Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic earlier said the recalled Serbian ambassadors could remain in Belgrade until the fall before eventually returning to their original duties.
