MOSCOW, May 23 (RIA Novosti) - Northwest Russia’s Kirov Region will present its new timber industry projects at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 6-8, the region’s governor said on Friday.
Investors from Finland and Austria have shown a strong interest in the projects, which include the construction of a pulp mill with annual production capacity of over 279,000 tons of paper and 35,000 tons of paper products.
The region’s delegation to the forum will also meet with German businessmen to discuss joint agricultural projects.
The Kirov Region’s forests, which account for 67% of its territory, have a total of around 1.2 billion cubic meters of wood.
The St. Petersburg economic forum, to be attended by President Dmitry Medvedev, brings together world leaders to discuss key economic issues facing Russia and the international community.
Traditional participants include presidents, prime ministers, heads of government and ministers from a number of countries, as well as the international business elite and chief editors from leading global media publications.
