ST. PETERSBURG, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - The 12th International Economic Forum to be held in St. Petersburg on June 6-8 will not interrupt the daily life of locals, the city governor said.
"All necessary measures have been taken to minimize problems for citizens. There will be no problems with transport," Valentina Matviyenko said.
The governor said the forum's main events will be held on the weekend, and that participants will be transported via the city's canals.
According to opinion polls, most St. Petersburg residents are in favor of holding the forum.
The St. Petersburg Economic Forum, to be attended by President Dmitry Medvedev, brings together world leaders to discuss key economic issues facing Russia and the international community.
Traditional participants include presidents, prime ministers, heads of government and ministers from a number of countries, as well as the international business elite and chief editors from leading global media publications.
