ASTANA, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - The head of Russian Railways met with the president of Kazakhstan to discuss joint rail projects, the president's press service said on Monday.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Vladimir Yakunin in the capital, Astana.
"Issues of Kazakh-Russian cooperation in international railway transit and creating new transportation corridors were discussed during the meeting," the press service said, adding that one of the projects considered was transit from China to Europe via Kazakhstan and Russia.
Yakunin told Nazarbayev about the progress of rail reforms in Russia, and discussed problems shared by the two countries' rail monopolies.
