"Moscow decisively condemns the barbaric actions of terrorists aimed at Algerian and foreign nationals," the ministry said in an official statement.
Two bombs went off at a railway station in Beni Amrane, just over 50 kms (30 miles) east of the capital, Algiers.
Algeria's defense ministry has however denied media reports over the amount of the dead, saying that only two people were killed in the blasts.
"The attack left two dead, a French citizen and his driver of Algerian nationality," the official news agency APS cited the defence ministry as saying.
The attack was the latest in a series of bombings in the region. On Wednesday, two locals were killed in a blast in a suburb of Algiers. Six soldiers were also killed on Thursday near Dellys, just east of Algiers, in a bombing linked to Islamic militants.
