MOSCOW, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - An arms cache has been discovered and destroyed in the North Caucasus Republic of Chechnya, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti on Saturday.
According to the source, the cache, containing around 300 rounds of ammunition and 10 mortar shells, was discovered in an abandoned house in the Shatoj region.
"Police found 10, 82mm mortar shells, around 300 5.45 mm rounds of ammunition and 235 detonators," he said.
All the contents "were destroyed at the scene."
Sporadic terrorist attacks and militant clashes remain common in Russia's North Caucasus republics, although the active phase of the Kremlin campaign to fight militants and terrorists in Chechnya is officially over.
