GAZA, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - At least six Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip in two Israeli air strikes on vehicles amid fraught attempts to reach a truce, local security forces said on Tuesday.
An Israeli missile hit an ammunition-loaded vehicle belonging to the Islamic Jihad militant group near the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis. The blast from the missile and the resulting detonations also reached a Palestinian police car in the vicinity.
Three militants and two policemen were killed, and another three officers were wounded.
A second attack killed one militant for the Army of Islam and left 10 wounded in the town of Deir al-Balah.
Hostilities continue despite Egypt-brokered truce talks. Gaza-controlling Hamas said a ceasefire could be announced within days if nothing unexpected occurred.
