ASTANA, June 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe speaks for the preservation of Georgia's territorial integrity, organization's high ranking official said on Saturday.

Georgia's breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are currently the main source of tension between Georgia and Russia, with Tbilisi accusing Moscow of trying to annex the territories.

"All OSCE members share the same stance - Georgia's territorial integrity should be preserved and nobody can infringe on it," OSCE PA President Goran Lennmarker said.

"We want to find a compromise and a peaceful resolution of this issue," he added.

Abkhazia and South Ossetia broke away from Georgia following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Russian peacekeepers have been deployed in the republics since the 1990s. Moscow recently bolstered the number of its peacekeepers in Abkhazia in response to Georgian troop buildup, but said the increase was still within previously agreed limits of 3,000 soldiers.
