MOSCOW, June 30 (RIA Novosti) - The former head of a subsidiary of Russia's largest shipping company has been extradited from Switzerland to face fraud charges, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said Monday.
The prosecutor's office said last week that the European Court of Human Rights has upheld Russia's extradition request for businessman Yury Privalov.
He is charged with defrauding a Sovcomflot subsidiary out of more than $400 million. He was detained in Switzerland.
In 2006, the Prosecutor General's Office applied for his extradition, and last December Switzerland granted the request.
Privalov's lawyers appealed, and the extradition process was suspended until the European court issued its ruling.
If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
