MOSCOW, July 3 (RIA Novosti) - The International Tennis Federation announced Thursday the list of tennis players going for gold at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
The players, led by men's world No. 1 Roger Federer of Switzerland and women's No. 1 Ana Ivanovic of Serbia, are the strongest group to appear since tennis was reintroduced to Olympics as a medal event in 1988.
In line with the regulations each country may be represented by four players per gender.
Russia will be represented in the women's event by Maria Sharapova, Yelena Dementyeva, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Dinara Safina, and by Nikolai Davydenko, Mikhail Yuzhny, Dmitry Tursunov and Igor Andreyev in the men's tournament.
The tennis will run from August 10 to 17, while the Games start with the opening ceremony on August 8 and close on August 24.
