MOSCOW, July 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's agricultural regulator Rosselkhoznadzor said Wednesday it would impose temporary bans on some meat imports into Russia from eight countries.
The countries affected will be Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain from July 15, and Australia, Argentina and Brazil from July 21.
The regulator said the move had been caused by the detection of banned and harmful substances in meat from some manufacturers in these countries. Imports from those companies will be suspended.
Rosselkhoznadzor has also increased controls on products coming from several U.S. poultry enterprises due to the "discovery of heavy metal salts" in their products.
