MOSCOW, July 14 (RIA Novosti) - The French car manufacturing giant Renault increased sales in Russia between January and June 2008 by 25%, up to 56,600 cars year-on-year, the company said in a statement on Monday.
The company's two most popular models in Russia remain the Renault Logan (41,000 sold cars) and the Renault Megane (8,600 cars).
Renault continues to expand its network in Russia, which currently comprises 74 dealerships in 61 cities.
Renault also announced in May this year that by the end of 2009 it would launch production of its low-cost Sandero five-door hatchback at its Moscow plant, Avtoframos, which has been building Logan models since 2005.
The Moscow city government and Renault set up Avtoframos in 1998. The joint venture rolled out around 80,000 cars in 2007, a 41% increase on the previous year.
