FARNBOROUGH, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot signed a contract on Tuesday with Airbus for the delivery of five A-321 medium-haul airliners at the Farnborough air show in England.
The deliveries will start from August 2013.
Aeroflot currently operates eleven A319s, seventeen A320s, and ten A321s in its 88-aircraft fleet. The planes accommodate 116, 140 and 170 passengers, respectively, in a two-class configuration.
In late 2008, the company plans to buy new medium-to-long-range commercial passenger airliners A330s. The company also has plans to buy Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft for its regional flights.
Aeroflot annually carries more than 8 million people or over 10 million together with its subsidiaries, approximately 25% of all passengers transported by Russian airline carriers. The company flies to 96 destinations in 49 countries.
