ROME, July 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich has paid 3.5 million euros ($5.5 million) to buy a restaurant in downtown Rome for his girlfriend Daria Zhukova, Italian media reported Sunday, referring to the Metropolitan Post.
The Metropolitan Post, which writes about the life of celebrities, said Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea soccer club, had acquired a VIP restaurant, Julian Cafe, located close to the St. Angel Castle.
In June, Abramovich reportedly paid troubled British singer Amy Winehouse, a recovering crack addict, around $2 million to perform at the opening of his girlfriend's art gallery.
Zhukova's Garage contemporary art gallery in Moscow, housed in a former bus shelter built in 1927 with floorspace of around 8,000 square meters (85,000 sq. feet), will be opened to the public later this year.
