Media earlier reported that Robert Dudley had been ordered to appear at the prosecutor's office on Monday for alleged labor law violations by the oil company, which is currently caught up in a dispute between its shareholders - British oil major BP and a consortium of Russian tycoons. TNK-BP confirmed the report.
"The Moscow prosecutors' office studied the materials, and found that there are no grounds for taking administrative action against Dudley for violations of administrative and labor laws," spokeswoman Valentina Titova sad.
TNK-BP had said on Thursday that Dudley would temporarily leave Russia to run the company from abroad. BP blamed a campaign of harassment by Russian shareholders in the country's third largest oil producer.
The BP-appointed U.S. executive, who has been accused by Russian shareholders of acting only in BP's interests, said he was leaving due to the failure of the Russian authorities to renew his visa.
On Friday, the British Foreign Office warned that Dudley's departure from Russia would be "bad news for both the Russian economy and the global energy industry as a whole."
