MADRID, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Spanish police have seized a 316 kg (700 pounds) haul of heroin in the northeastern port of Sitges, national media said on Friday.
Five people - four Turks and one Romanian - were arrested during an operation at a sports marina near Barcelona, Spanish National Radio reported.
The heroin, with an estimated street value of 54 million euros ($84 million), was confiscated on Thursday after it had been loaded into a car.
The drugs had been delivered to Spain from Turkey by a sailboat registered in the U.S. The haul is one of the biggest ever in Europe, local police said.
