The report by the Medialogiya company, which provides media monitoring and analysis services, has been compiled through daily monitoring of over 3,000 Russian print and electronic media and television.
According to the report, in January-July 2008, RIA Novosti was quoted in the Russian media 226,132 times, while ITAR-TASS - 142,717 times, and Interfax - 136,944 times.
"RIA Novosti's leadership is based on the agency's strong positions in the federal media," the report said.
During the same period, RIA Novosti was quoted in the federal media 112,132 times, ITAR-TASS - 71,973 times and Interfax - 59,331 times.
Last year, RIA Novosti also maintained a strong lead among the Russian news agencies as the most quoted source of information.
