The girl, weighing only 600 grams (21 ounces) at birth, was pronounced dead after the mother's emergency termination procedure, carried out after five months of pregnancy due to internal bleeding.
The doctors in Nahariya then sent the baby to a cryogenic laboratory, where she spent over five hours. When her father and mother came to see the body, and the cooler was opened, the baby showed signs of breathing.
"When we unwrapped the baby to see her, she realized it was moving. I began screaming and ran with it toward the doctors," the newspaper quoted the father, Ali Majdub, as saying.
The girl was then rushed to intensive care, where doctors fought for her life. The one-day-old child died at 5:15 a.m. in hospital on Tuesday.
The hospital's deputy administrator, Dr Moshe Daniel, told Channel 2 News: "In medicine, when we see something like this, we call it a 'medical miracle,' but at this point, we do not have an explanation."
The girl's father said the doctors had been "negligent in the speed with which they pronounced my daughter's death."
