BELGRADE, September 4 (RIA Novosti) - Serbian President Boris Tadic will meet with Kosovo leader Fatmir Sejdiu only for talks on the region's future status, the Serbian president's press service said Thursday.
"The meeting between President Boris Tadic and Sejdiu is possible in the only format of new talks under the aegis of the UN on the future status of our southern province of Kosovo and Metohja," the service said.
The statement came several hours after Sejdiu reiterated his willingness to meet with Tadic on the condition that Kosovo's independence was not part of the discussions.
The United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) said it was ready to mediate the talks.
