AMMAN, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - The United States has provided an extra $9 million to the United Nations to cover increasing expenditures on Palestinian refugees, a UN spokesman said Friday.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) needed the money for its work with 5 million Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The United States has now given $157 million to UNRWA this year, far outstripping the other donors, who together have provided $90 million.
