MOSCOW, September 16 (RIA Novosti) - There is one Russian among 22 crewmembers of a Hong Kong tanker seized Monday off the coast of Somalia, an Internet publication said Tuesday.
Maritime Bulletin Sovfracht said the sailors also included 18 Indians, two Filipinos and one Bangladeshi.
According to a representative of the International Maritime Bureau, the tanker carrying chemicals was heading for Asia via a "safety corridor" in the Gulf of Aden, which is under the control of an international coalition of warships and aviation.
No one was hurt during the seizure. The maritime bureau said it was the 12th ship seized by pirates in the region in the last two months.
The waters off the East African nation are considered among the most dangerous in the world. According to the United Nations, more than 25 pirate attacks on civilian ships have occurred in the area since the start of this year.
