NEW YORK, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - Serbia has submitted a draft resolution to the United Nations asking the UN International Court of Justice to assess the legality of Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence in February.
President Boris Tadic, speaking at a UN General Assembly session, said: "To vote against such a resolution would mean to reject the right of any country - now and in the future - to seek legal solutions within the framework of the UN. Such an approach could lead to the end of the UN system as we know it today."
He also said that Serbia would continue to cooperate with the UN administration in the predominantly ethnic Albanian province.
So far, Kosovo has been recognized by 47 UN member states out of 192, while Serbia and Russia insist that it will always remain a part of Serbia.
