Manuel Uribe, who once weighed 560 kg (1,235 lbs) and has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's heaviest man, said he would tie knot with Claudia Solis at a civil ceremony on October 26 in Monterrey, Mexico.
The marriage comes two years after Uribe, 43, went on a diet, since when he has lost about 250 kg (550 lbs) with the help of his future wife.
"We get along very well," said Claudia, who cares for her future husband by bathing him every day.
Uribe has been unable to leave his bed since 2001 and uses a truck to get outdoors. He was the subject of a documentary titled "The World's Heaviest Man" and said he had set himself the goal of lowering his weight to 120 kg (265 lbs).
The groom has vowed to stick to a new salad diet, promising to have just a bite of wedding cake for photos.
