MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's MICEX and RTS stock exchanges resumed trading as of 1:00 p.m. Moscow time (09:00 GMT) Tuesday, with shares showing moderate growth.
Trading on Russia's two main stock exchanges was suspended before 10:00 a.m. Moscow time (06:00 GMT) opening Tuesday following instructions from the financial regulator.
"Trading has resumed in all modes," a MICEX spokesman said.
As of 2:11 p.m. Moscow time, the RTS index climbed 3.93%, rising above the "psychologically important" 900-point level and settling at 900.43 points while the MICEX index was up 3.62% to 779.25 points.
At a Kremlin meeting Tuesday, President Dmitry Medvedev pledged to give banks an extra 950 billion rubles ($36 billion) in credit for terms of at least five years to fight the financial crisis.
