ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - A car exploded in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia on Saturday, killing the driver, the local interior ministry said.
"The incident took place at about 12:00 p.m. Moscow time [8:00 GMT] in the village of Kantyshevo. A VAZ-2107 car exploded, the driver died at the scene, and several nearby houses and cars were damaged," the ministry said.
"The car driver could have been a criminal who intended to use the explosive device that went off in the car to commit a terrorist attack. It is possible that the individual was a suicide bomber," the statement said.
An investigation is underway.
