SAMARA, October 20 (RIA Novosti) - Police have seized more than 24 kilograms (53 lbs) of heroin in Russia's Volga city of Samara in a joint operation with the Federal Security Service (FSB), a police spokesman said on Monday.
An unemployed man carrying around 500 grams of heroin was detained by police near a local market. During a subsequent operation, officers discovered a stash containing 30 more packages of heroin. An investigation is underway.
The suspect faces up to 12 years behind bars if found guilty of drug trafficking charges.
