VIENNA, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - A single-engine light-sport aircraft crashed into the roof of the Austrian Cobra special police headquarters near Vienna, killing the pilot and passenger, national media reported.
The accident occurred in Wiener Neustadt, about 50 kilometers from the capital, at 6 p.m. local time (16:00 GMT) on Tuesday. The crash caused a fire on the building's roof, a Cobra official told journalists. No officers were injured.
The aircraft, which had flown from Germany, was destroyed. It took firefighters several hours to put out the blaze. A parachute was found on the roof, suggesting that one of the victims had unsuccessfully tried to eject from the plane.
