KABUL, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - The bodies of 12 bus passengers, who were seized and massacred by the Taliban, have arrived in the Afghan capital of Kabul for identification, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported on Wednesday.
On October 16, Taliban militants stopped two buses carrying 77 people in the southern Kandahar region and massacred over 30 of the passengers, accusing them of collaborating with the central government.
The 12 recently recovered bodies bring the death toll in the deadly bus attack to over 40 people.
Six people were beheaded by the roadside, while 21 others were killed later. A number of other passengers were taken to the neighboring Helmand province, where five more bodies, believed to have come from the bus attack, were later discovered.
All of the victims were civilians who were traveling to Iran to look for work.
