ASHGABAT, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has signed a decree permitting the country's finance ministry to set up a stabilization fund, the presidential press service said on Wednesday.
The decree is aimed at "the stable economic development of Turkmenistan, the effective use of the budget surplus and further improving the well-being of the people."
Turkmenistan is the second largest natural gas producer in the post-Soviet space after Russia. Turkmenistan's natural gas reserves are estimated at 22 trillion cubic meters, the fifth largest in the world.
