Kathryn Kechagia Aikterini, 24, arrived in Monaco last year saying she wanted to establish a branch of the Green Cross International (GCI), a non-governmental environmental organization set up by Gorbachev in 1993.
The blond-haired blue-eyed girl, who surprisingly spoke only English, was accepted in the palace by Prince of Monaco Albert II, known for his commitment to environmental protection.
The prince, who treated Kathryn as Gorbachev's daughter, even agreed to become president of the branch.
The saga, reminiscent Anna Anderson, who claimed to be a daughter of Russia's last tsar, could have continued, but in April this year Kathryn was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, suffering from depression.
When the woman returned to Monaco after a trip to Switzerland, she found out that the state minister of Monaco, Jean-Paul Proust, had signed an extradition order, and on June 2 Kathryn was escorted out of the country by police.
