ROME, November 13 (RIA Novosti) - The Rome Energy Meeting 2008, an international energy conference, opened in Rome on Thursday.
"Energy security will be in the spotlight," said vice-president of the Transneft pipeline operator Mikhail Barkov, who is part of the Russian delegation.
The two-day event ends on Friday and will also focus on climate change, efficient use of energy resources and the global financial crisis.
Along with Transneft, the Russian delegation includes representatives of Russian energy giant Gazprom, the country's largest independent natural gas producer Novatek, and many other companies.
The event is held under the patronage of the Italian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economic Development and Environment and Territory, the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Rome.
