MOSCOW, November 26 (RIA Novosti) - Police seized 50 kg (110 lbs) of heroin in the south of the Moscow Region on Wednesday, Russia's Federal Drugs Service said.
The operation was conducted in the Leninsky district, the service said, without giving further details.
The street value of 1 kg of heroin in Russia varies between $5,000 and $10,000. Around 30,000 people die in Russia from illegal drug consumption each year.
Russian police and security forces seized over 29 metric tons of illegal drugs in January-September this year.
