TEL AVIV, December 16 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll in a tourist bus crash in southern Israel near the Red Sea resort city of Eilat has risen to 24, a local TV channel said on Tuesday.
A representative from the Russian embassy in Israel confirmed that tourists involved in the crash were from Russia's second largest city of St. Petersburg.
"The bus which crashed in Israel was transporting charter passengers from a St. Petersburg flight," the embassy said.
Earlier paramedics working at the crash scene said that at least 10 people had been killed and some 45 injured.
Ambulances and military helicopters are working at the accident scene to try and ferry the injured to hospitals.
