BELGRADE, December 19 (RIA Novosti) - Serbia has missed its deadline to complete a strategically important military base on the border with Kosovo due to financial problems, the country's Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
The Defense Ministry said delays in payment for completed work had held up construction of the base, which was expected to be finished in December.
The head of a military construction center responsible for financial activity related to the building of the base will be replaced, the statement said.
Work on the 35-hectare (86-acre) military base, located near the border with Kosovo and Macedonia some 5 kilometers southeast of the southern Serbian city of Bujanovac, began six years ago.
