MOSCOW, December 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian aluminum giant RusAl said in a statement on Saturday that two of its employees have been abducted in southern Nigeria after unknown suspects attacked a community of Russian workers.
"Armed assailants attacked today in the morning a community of RusAl employees in the south of Ikot Abasi port town. Two employees have been abducted," the statement said.
The company added that it does everything possible to free the captured hostages, who worked at the Alscon plant (the Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria).
United Company RusAl was established in March 2007 through a merger of Russian aluminum giants RusAl and SUAL and Swiss Glencore's alumina assets. It exports products to 70 countries.
