GAZA, January 10 (RIA Novosti) - The United Nations will resume its humanitarian operations in Gaza later in the day having received security guarantees from Israel, a UN spokesman said on Saturday.

The UN almost completely halted its activity in the Palestinian enclave on Thursday after gunfire from an Israeli tank killed a UN aid truck driver and injured another two of its staff.

Adnan Abu Hasna said humanitarian aid will be resumed in the next few hours, a decision made after assurances had been received from Israeli authorities that the security of UN personnel, facilities, and humanitarian operations would be fully respected.

According to Palestinian health authorities, the Israeli operation that started on December 27 has so far killed 805 people in Gaza, while another 3,310 people were wounded.

Israel's casualties are estimated at 13 people, including 10 servicemen.
