Two Azerbaijani nationals killed in Moscow

MOSCOW, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - Two Azerbaijani nationals have been killed in southeast Moscow in an apparent race-hate attack, a source in local law enforcement agencies said on Wednesday.

The bodies of two Azerbaijani nationals were found in a Lada car by police early on Wednesday.

The killings are believed to have occurred on Tuesday night. Two gun cases were also discovered at the crime scene. An investigation is underway.

Attacks on foreigners and ethnic minorities are a regular occurrence in Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as other Russian cities.

Russia's Interior Ministry has warned that Russia could see a rise in crimes against foreigners and migrant workers amid the worsening economic situation in the country.

The Russian government decided to scrap quotas for foreigners working in retail outlets in 2009 in an effort to decrease the unemployment rate among Russians.
