MOSCOW, February 6 (RIA Novosti) - One person was killed in a fire that broke out at an 18th-century building housing the offices of a private company in central Moscow on Friday, a local emergencies spokesman said.
The fire, which occurred in the building on Stoleshnikov Lane, a street containing boutiques and shops selling luxury goods, has been extinguished, the spokesman said. He added that the blaze covered an area of 20 square meters.
One body was retrieved from the building and is being identified. Firefighters managed to save two other people from the blaze. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, the spokesman said.
Traffic on nearby Petrovka Street was halted during the firefighting operation.
