The 51-year-old beekeeper, identified as Alexander T., had bought a Kalashnikov assault rifle after vowing to punish those he believed responsible for his children's deaths, Life.ru reported, citing regional investigators. The man's 20-year-old daughter died of an overdose in 1994 and his son was beaten to death aged 25.
His first victim was a local businessman he blamed for his son's death. Then he shot the local hospital's chief doctor in the shoulder for not saving his dying daughter.
Later he shot dead the local police chief and an officer, accusing them of covering for local drug dealers he said were behind his son's death.
Police detained the man following a tipoff from the local resident who found the man's Kalashnikov in a local forest. Police identified the gunman by a hair left on the rifle.
