At least 40 people injured in Czech passenger trains collision

At least 40 people have been injured in a head-on collision between two passenger trains in the northeast of the Czech Republic, a Czech railways spokeswoman said on Monday.
WARSAW, February 16 (RIA Novosti) - At least 40 people have been injured in a head-on collision between two passenger trains in the northeast of the Czech Republic, a Czech railways spokeswoman said on Monday.

Katerina Subova said the two trains collided near the town of Paskov, just five kilometers (3 miles) away from the nearest station.

She also said that three people had been seriously injured, adding that the casualty list may grow as rescuers continue working at the scene of the accident.

According to preliminary information, human error on the part one of the train drivers was the cause of the accident.
