The estate was sold last September to a real estate company headed by Irina Povarenkina from Moscow and the Luxembourg-based Sjato Gabriel, which is owned by Siman Povarenkin from Vladivostok.
The relationship between the two Povarenkins is unclear.
Siman Povarenkin served as the director of Far Eastern Shipping Company Plc, which is headquartered in Vladivostok, from June 2007 to December 2008.
The renowned clothes designer Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge acquired Chateau Gabriel, which had been abandoned since World War II, in 1978. The building in the village of Benerville-sur-Mer in Normandy, which once belonged to King Ludwig II of Bavaria, was put up for sale after Saint Laurent's death in June 2008.
Chateau Gabriel was built in 1874 and is surrounded by 30 hectares (75 acres) of parkland and gardens. The main building has five stories totaling 862 square meters, or more than 9,000 square feet.
